Interview with Vicente Arze (english version)

A girlie dinner interview with Vicente Arze, football player of Diósgyőr
18th of August, 2011. Miskolctapolca, Anna terrace

RWL: We welcome you on behalf of the Woman Fan Club of Red White Ladies. We are honored that you’ve accepted our invitation. Our fan club is nearly half a year old, we are the founding members who visit Diósgyőr matches since more than 20-30 years. More than 600 fan ladies joined us on the Facebook.

Vicente: Very good.

RWL: We invited you because we made a survey among the Ladies in the beginning of this season and the subject was who is your favorite Diósgyőr football player (from female perspective). :-)
you won. Rados is the second one and Lippai is the third one. On this occasion we would like to give you a small present. First take this small yellow shoes (a little copper shoes with your name and the sign NR.1 on it).you are our Bolivian yellow shoes guy and this highlights that you are our number one; even in case your football shoes are worn-out you can use this. :-)

Vicente: I will never run out yellow. I have a lot of new shoes in my house…Thank you very much. It means a lot. I will put it into my house.

RWL: We do not know if the other present has been prepared as it is cooked in Bolivia but we hope you will like that. We hope that we can bring your home here at least for a few seconds.

Vicente: Oh, thank you very much. Thanks very sweet. Köszönöm szépen… Beautiful. These are the best gifts I got in my football carrier. So now I know why I got a lot of votes on the DVTK webpage after the game. Because I do not play good but I have football fans, so thank you. :-)
(he is laughing, we are laughing, but we know that he became the best player of the game since then, he is playing better and better and has scored yet…)

RWL: What is this food ? Do you know it?

Vicente: Yes, saltena.

RWL: It could be your breakfast for tomorrow I guess. We will give it to you we will pack it for you after the dinner.

Vicente: Oh My God. When I was in the university in the States I got from Bolivia some box with frozen and I could eat it two times a week.

RWL: But this is for breakfast, isn’t it?

Vicente: No, it is like a... for example people in Bolivia when they work they have 2 hours lunch time or one hour this is something that is fast. So they eat it, saltena.

RWL:  but you have to prepare it the night before so it is not really a kind of fast food.

Vicente: No, no. It is very difficult to make.

RWL: We also know this yet. :-)

Vicente: It is a very good job. Thank you very much.

RWL: So you are a football player and what is about your private life because you are travelling a lot and we guess it is really difficult. What about the relationship and the private life? How can you do these two things together?

Vicente: It is very hard because all the travelling and I do not stay in one place you know. I am not in one stable place. For example now I have signed a contract with DVTK and maybe they are not happy with me and I have to leave or maybe I play good and I have to go to another / different team so it is very hard. The person that you find has to be there for you and to accept that situation. It is gonna hard. This is one of the reason we (he and his girlfriend) finished because she also had dreams and I just cannot keep her following my dreams. But I still have strong feelings for her. I love she, she is a very nice and beautiful girl and I wish we had a different situation, like me was not a football player…

RWL: But maybe after three years...

Vicente: Yeah! Hopefully. She is an amazing girl. She was very sporty but I also had to think on her and let her follow her dreams and just not keep her with me or so. I miss her.

RWL: But you still have a good friendship?

Vicente: Yeah, because we still have feelings to each other but we know it is a bad situation.

RWL: Where is the dog?

Vicente: It was her dog. :-(

RWL: What do you think about the Hungarian girls?

Vicente: Girls? I have not met yet with any girls personally, but I look at them and they are beautiful. And I heard they are very nice girls.

RWL: What are those typical differences between American, Hungarian and Bolivian women, which are strange for you or significant?

Vicente: Significant? I think girls are beautiful everywhere in the world, in China, Europe, etc. .… In general they are beautiful. What I can see as a difference between Latin and Hungarian girls, but I have not met a Hungarian one, that the Latin girls have more passion. But I do not know any Hungarian, so...

RWL: Are in Bolivian female supporters as well?

Vicente: There is but in small quantity because it is a really man thing in South America because it is dangerous. But now women are started to go to the stadium more and even playing football more.

RWL: What will happen after your next score?

Vicente: I was thinking of it today. I think I will celebrate very very crazy because I want to score so. I think I will take all my hate and passion and everything…!!!

RWL: We really hope that you will offer your next goal to Red White Ladies. :-)

Vicente: Under my shirt I will wear red and white too, ok? :-)

RWL: Are you still learning Hungarian language?

Vicente: I took some classes and they were very hard. (he told us some hungarian words, CSIRKE (chicken) is the first one) :-)))

RWL: You had an accident...

Vicente: On my knee, yeah. I cut my ligament on my knee.

RWL: There were 4 games…

Vicente: It was too much, yes. I am a player, I love the game, people, environment so when I am playing and people are yelling and happy or mad I like it. So when I am not playing I wanna be where those people are.

RWL: Do you miss your country? Do you feel yourself lonely here?

Vicente: I miss it but because I left my country when I was 16 to play football in Argentina so those years were very hard. But now I am more used to and know I am playing football and that's the game and have to be away.  They say: playing football is a gift of God and being away from your family is part of the game.

RWL: As far as we know you may have received a contract from Real Madrid?

Vicente: You know I was very young. In Bolivia Real Madrid (youth team)is like an academy. There was somebody from there they saw me, so they sent me from Bolivia to Spain due to the reason that they thought I was from Spain. Because my grandfather is from Spain. So I never have been there and I was there to sign this beautiful contract. I gave my passport, they saw it was Bolivian. And you know there is a limit of international players, so they tried to send me to a different team. I was only in Madrid for 36 hours because my team in Bolivia asked too much money so they were not going to pay because I was Spanish. I was very disappointed but then I got an opportunity to play in Argentina.

RWL: Were you scared of this meeting??? :-)

Vicente: Noooo… :-)))

RWL: Do you have a favourite football player?

Vicente: Messi. And Pacomuto, he is Bolivian.

RWL: Do you know Batistuta personally?

Vicente: No but we played in the same club... Batistuta, Messi played there when he was 12.

RWL: Do you like dancing?

Vicente: I am a very good dancer. :-)

RWL: You are a scorpion… (Zodiac sign) it’s very good … :-)

Vicente: Yes, a very strong personality.

RWL: What do you think about the Hungarian Championship?

Vicente: It is a very good tournament. Not too much difference from the first and last positions, there are no easy games.

RWL:  What do you think about the coach?

Vicente: I do not have any problem. He is a nice person and a very good coach that knows how to keep the group together. This is the first time I have such a young coach.

RWL: Finally a last but mean question from our side. The time we made the survey some players like Gallardo or Carreno were not part of the team. What do you think, if we would repeat the voting would you be the first one again?

Vicente: (he thinks about… and suddenly laughs): I hope, yes, certainly! :-)

RWL: We are grateful for you Vicente that you joined us. Thank you for your honest answers and endless patience! :-)

Vicente: I also thank you! I hope to see you next time again! :-)
